My pre-Military Years (1997-2001)

Before this time period of my life I had no signifient events that really affected my life. So I am starting with this time period which is when I began driving and Working.

On February 5, 1997, I turned 16 and began preparing to get my driver's license. On March 5, 1997, I got my Driver's license and began my job search. I was hired at Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers

I continued to work for Wendy's throughout the next 2 years until my 18th birthday. After my birthday I dripped out of high school and immediately tested to receive my GED which I passed with a fairly high score. After I completed my GED test I began to work a second job that put my total working hours each week over 80 between both jobs.

I April of 1999 The worst and most tragic event up to that point happened the shooting at Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado. 13 People lost their lives before the student shooters took their own lives. This event caused me to begin to question my beliefs, once it was found out the at least 2 of the victims were killed simply because they believed in Jesus. This caused me to began turning away from my faith in The one true God and His Son Jesus the Christ. I began to care more about making money than spending time with my family or God.

After several months of working non-stop for hours at both jobs that were within an hour of having to leave one place and arriving at the other. I left those Jobs and transferred to the Wendy"s at the Richland Mall, where I got a raise in pay and whatever Hours I wanted.

After another 2 years of working for Wendy's, one of my cousins passed away. He was in the Navy, and several members of his unit were assigned to be the ceremonial guard for the funeral, later I found out that the rest of his unit took leave to attend his funeral. This Brotherhood that my cousin's unit showed that day caused me to decide to join the Navy myself. As soon as I returned home from the funeral I began the enlistment process, which began the next part of my life.

My Military Years (October 2001-2005)

This part of my life started just after my enlistment paperwork was complete. I returned to work at the Richland mall Wendy's and put in a request for time off that was 2 weeks away. My Manager told me that he would ensure that I got those days off when he made up the schedule for that week, but when he posted that schedule he had me on it for those days. When I spoke to him about it he told me that I had to find someone to cover those shifts of I could be fired for No call/No show. My response to him was to remind him that he promised to give me the time off 2 weeks before, and told him that since those days were for me to complete my enlistment requirements, which is the same thing he was told when I put in for the days off and the reason he promised to give me the time off. When he continued to berate me for refusing to fix his mistake I left for the day as my work shift was over. When the requested days off came around I went to my finish my enlistment requirements and did not fix the Managers mistake. When I returned to work just 2 days later, the manager told me that I no longer worked there and that I was to turn in my uniforms when I picked up my last check at the end of the week.

Over the following several months several things happened. First I began to work third shift at Archway Cookies through a Temporary Employment agency, where I met and began dating my ex-wife. The second was September 11, 2001, as soon as I saw the news coverage I called my recruiter to see if I was shipping out to Boot Camp early or not. I was not to leave for Boot Camp until October 16, 2001, this did not change. This again caused me to try to run farther from God and to attempt to control my own life.

During my short employment at Archway Cookies, I met the woman that I ended up marrying on July 3, 2002. On October 16, 2001, I shipped out to Great Lakes, Il. for Navy Boot Camp. Over the next 8 weeks, I went through Navy Basic Training, which I completed on December 21, 2001, as a Grad-and-go division (grad-and-go is a division that upon completion of the formal graduation ceremony known as "Pass in Review" they transfer to their next duty station or go on leave). I was able to take leave for 2 weeks then I hade to be in Groton, CT right after New Years. When I arrived at my Submarine Training command on January 1, 2002, I waited about 2 months before starting Basic Enlisted Submarine School (BESS). After completing my BESS classes I was put into a unit called Awaiting Class-up, while in this unit I was temporarily assigned to base security, as Auxilary Security Force (ASF). While in ASF I took a weekend of Special Liberty to come home to Marry my now ex-wife, on July 3, 2002.

Over the next year, my marriage seemed to be going well.  My then wife moved up to be with me in Navy housing in October 2002 and we both returned to Ohio for a short leave in December for Christmas.  I returned from leave just after the News Year turned so that I could be back before my official approved leave ended, and my wife returned a couple of weeks later.  Shortly after she was back in Connecticut we found out that she was pregnant with our daughter!  On July 10, 2001, our daughter was born 10 weeks early at 9 pounds 2.8 ounces, and 21 centimeters long.  our daughter was literally able to fit in the palm of my hand, my wedding band which was a size 13, fit all the way up to her shoulder and was loose enough to slide right back off.  Just one short month after she turned 1 year old our daughter had open heart surgery to fix 2 heart conditions from birth, up to this point she could barely gain weight.  After the surgery, our daughter was able to gain weight and quickly caught up to the weight that she needed to be, as the healthy baby girl that she was, and still is today!

As the following years continued, our daughter continued to inprove in her health.

My Post Military Years (2006-2007)

After I discharged from the Navy on December 28, 2005, I attempted to get several different jobs with no success. My Medical discharge which was for a back injury which prevented me from getting any real jobs. At one point I did start working for Wendy's again as a Manager in training during which time on of the female crew members began making sexual advances toward me, which I consistantly refused and on several occations reported the situation to the resturant General Manager who completly disregarded my report. Ultimately I left that job dur to this event.
